Types of Professional Designations


Professional awards are open to anyone working or interested in Business Administration. We offer four grades of membership to reflect the level of qualification and experience of the candidate. The four grades of professional awards are:

 


Honorary Fellowship (HON. FMBA)

Honorary Fellowship status is bestowed on the basis of a national or international reputation for exceptional achievement in management and/or business administration.Admission is only by invitation from the Board of Directors of the Institute. The Honorary Fellowship is granted to candidates who meet one of the following criteria:

 

  • A major creative contribution to the advancement of knowledge through research; or
  • A position of eminence in the practice of management or business administration; or
  • Fellowship of CIM and has made significant contribution to the Institute.

 

Fellowship (FMBA)

The Fellowship status is awarded to individuals who have completed the Graduate of Business Management (GBM), or who have submitted a thesis of 15,000 to 20,000 words approved by the Institute, or who made an extraordinary contribution to the advancement of the Institute. The Fellowship award is open to canadidates who have at least seven (7) years of working experience and meet one of the followinc criteria:

  • A Master's level thesis of 15,000 to 20,000 words approved by the Institute; or
  • A Bachelor's degree and have passed the Fellowship examination; or
  • Solid business knowledge and working experience to be certified by the Council.

Associateship (AMBA)

The bachelor's degree-level membership is for students who have at least five years of working experience and have completed the diploma examinations of the Institute or who have submitted a thesis of 10,000 to 15,000 words approved by Council.

 

Licentiateship (LMBA)

Open to students who have at least three years of working experience and have completed the certificate examinations of the association.
